Seasons

“Let it happen, let it happen. Tomorrow knows what tomorrow knows you can’t make it get here sooner. Let it happen, let it happen. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know you’re my future.”

~Switchfoot

Seasons

A season has come and the other has closed.
The ending has become a beginning.
We all stretch ourselves from one thing to the next.
Trying to keep one foot there and the other over there.

Walking in an ending is a daunting feeling.
Where we wake up and realize the next thing is approaching quickly.
Taking steps to remove ourselves from the past,
but wanting to keep living in what we have spent so much time making.

A season has come and the other has closed.
Dreams have been fulfilled and others did not come.
As we all know dreams are gone, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep trying.
From season to season, from life to life.

Quickly fleeting feelings, being replaced by anxiety.
Being quick to judge and knowing you can be right.
Even when someone tells you, you are wrong.
Then at other times being completely amiss.

As the seasons change, so does the heart.
As the seasons change, so do priorities.
As seasons change, so does humor.
As seasons change, so does love.

A season has come and the other has closed.
Looking back and having my eyes become less dry.
Looking back and wanting to stay even if I continue to cry.
Looking back and wanting to move on.
A season has come, but I keep playing limbo.
A season has come, and it is now time to dry my eyes.
