Old Habits Die Hard

I did it, I’m not going to lie.
I made a mistake and I wish I could fly,
Back to the start of the thought that triggered,
Into a carnal vision that I never figured,
Would come back again, but here we are flesh in hand with a lie that upends.

It’s easier to go back to old habits when you are alone
And, it’s easier to make mistakes when you are alone,
Especially when you take your eyes off the throne.

I was doing so well and in my eye,
I would never do it again, at least I’d try.
But here we are the sin complete and done,
And I want it again, no matter what diety I shun.

And, it’s easier to make mistakes when you are alone,
Especially when you take your eyes off the throne.

It’s so hard to close my eyes,
When all I see are the lies.
The ones that make me want to feel good,
The ones that are hiding right under the hood.

But when those eyes close and I see the dark,
I hope to hope that the Lord will come through,
But times came and they went.
And the deed was done and then I sent myself to bed a little too late.

And, it’s easier to make mistakes when you are alone,
Especially when you take your eyes off the throne.

I want to be free from a sickness inside of me.
When someone is there it is easier to not fall down.
Because they can help pick you up even when they are not around.
A goal-based on trust and now it is gone,
And it is not their fault don’t you dare quote me wrong.

It’s just easier to slip when you are feeling alone.
It’s easier to think, “They can watch it, shouldn’t I?”
Testing God and knowing that I’ll die,
Trying it on my own, and shaking my fist at your throne.

It’s easier to go back to old habits when you are alone
And, it’s easier to make mistakes when you are alone,
And it’s easier to cry when the time is wrong,
Especially when you take your eyes off the throne.
